DescriptionEarthenware, tin enameled. Flower (1743-85) or Taylor and Riley (1737-50) pottery, Redcliffe, Bristol. Body creamy yellow. Enamel has bluish tinge, and shows many holes on bottome where it has failed to cover the body. Painted in heavy dark blue, with a "dead leaf" edge. Border divided into panels of styalized flower design, seperated by sections of diaper. About center panel is a second border of "three brick" pattern. Center panel has a heavy design showing pagoda and birds with rocks and a small lattice. In heaviest parts of design, blue has absorbed the enamel. Painted on underside.
