Descriptionhandwoven porcupine quillwork bracelet cuff was created by Aquinnah Wampanoag artist Elizabeth James-Perry. North American Porcupines called Konkq in Wampanoag are covered with three types of hair: long fine guard hairs, a soft fur undercoat, and specialized slender white and brown barbs, called quills, that serve as a defense against predators. Each type of hair has their use in Native arts.
