DescriptionSaddle made of deerskin and decorated with fringe of skin and beads and straw. Woven red, black wool stripes; yellow and red glass beads sewn on in four circles and leaf design; white beading around the edges. Stirrups are leather and wood, leather has a center flower and fringe motif cut into it. Some padding between layers of saddle. Native American (Indian). Western European stirrup. Collected by Henry Thoreau.
