DescriptionPiece quilt, silk and cotton. Made from hundreds of hexagonal pieces of silk and cotton. The background of the face of the quilt is composed of hundred of pieces of hexagonal cotton. The pattern is perhaps what is called A Persian Garden. Blocks of padded silk scattered at regular intervals over the quilt, each block composed of 19 hexagonal pieces. The quilt is scalloped on three sides, with two bands of cotton and one of silk following the line of the scalloping. The quilt is edged on three sides with ecru hand-netted fringe, 1 1/2 deep. Quilted to a plain cotton back. Pattern: hexagon (variation).
