DescriptionWood, leather, iron. Soles are of wood, shaped like the sole of a square toed shoe, and flat on bottom. Leather toe, two side-staps on each pattern are nailed to sole through narrow strips of sheet iron with small handmade nails. Each side-strap has a perforation for latching. Ring of handmade iron fastened to bottom of sole by two bent standards. Such foot gear is designed to lift the feet of the wearer above the mud of country roads or badly paved streets.
