DescriptionTwo cast iron cannonballs; M409 is smaller than M410. Both have a single, vague casting mark around them. Surface of each is pitted and they have minor casting imperfections. Remains of black paint of some sort on each, and another, wax-like substance.

Tolman Catalog, Tolman Number 30: "Two Revolutionary Cannon Balls [Tolman Numbers 30-31, and M409-410, respectively], thrown into the mill pond by the British soldiers, April 19, 1775, and recovered by Cyrus Stow about 1835."
