MarkingsLabel: "This gavel was presented to Mrs. William E. Birdsall of Newton, at the time the Boston Woman's Civics Club was dissolved. Mrs. Birdsall was then the only living co-founder of the club, and also past-president of the Boston Federation of Woman's Clubs. Since the wood in the gavel came from timbers from the old Hosmer Farm House of Concord, Mass., we think you might like it for the local historic value for Concord".
