DescriptionRound wicker basket with dome-shaped lid, slotted to slide up on rigid handle, which extends halfway into basket and is notched to stay secure. The basket, including the bottom, and the lid have decorative patterns made from alternating peeled and unpeeled osiers (weft). The warp elements (ribs) are splints bent up at sides. Weave: wicker, plain. Rim: finish, wrapped. Originally contained a miscellaneous assortment of small bits of wood broken from furniture, also bits of gilt ornaments from mirror or picture frames (detailed in file).
