DescriptionCharcoal flat iron. It has a metal pin which pulls out to unfasten the top. There is a wooden handle and between the wooden handle and the top of the iron there is a curved piece of tin, placed there to protect the hand from the heat evidently. This was not on the iron when it was manufactured, and this piece of tin hides the maker's name and the patent date. At the back of the base of the iron there is a hive-shaped hole with a swiveled cover with the head of a bearded man impressed in the metal.
