DescriptionOne of a pair of slippers (a,b). The upper is made of white satin. The shoe also features a square toe and a flat, undifferentiated heel. A rosette decoration at the instep is missing, the satin was split and has been repaired. Elastic ties at the sides of the shoes are also missing with only fragments remaining. The insole is white kid leather. An oval paper label adhered to the insole of one of the shoes features the text: "VIAULT ESTE / PARIS / THEIRRY & SONS". NOTE; one source dates these as c. 1815.
