DescriptionSextant (a) in wooden case (b). Case is painted black and triangular in shape. Two distinct levels or depths. Keyhole surrounded by black epucheon. Metal hook and loop bracket on same side as keyhole. Inside case is unfinished wood and a rectangular label that reads: "NAUTICAL INSTRUMENT / AND / PUBLICATION WAREHOUSE. / D. EGGERT & SON, / 239 PEARL STREET, Head of Burling Slip, / NEW-YORK".
