MarkingsOn buttons: "American Legion"; pins "158" on collar; on patches "American Legion" and "25 YRS"; label inside coat reads "Official/Uniform/Legionairre/Uniform Co./Boston, Mass." and depicts a man with a cane. On hat (C): "158" and "Massachusetts" and interior leather band stamped with gold lettering "Emblem [illegible]/National Headquarters/The American Legion/Indianapolis" and a paper tag handwritten "Holden." Other hat (D) reads "Massachusetts" and the interior leather band is impressed with a rectangle in which is the word "Legionnaire" and a man with a cane. Also handwritten in pen inside the hat is "JAMES DEE", and a cloth tag that says "7/Price" and handwritten onit "J Dee"

DescriptionAmerican Legion uniform- coat (A), pants (B), and two hats (C-D). Navy blue wool; brass buttons with star motif and reading "American Legion." Pants have yellow stripe down side of each leg. Two brass "158" pins on each side of collar. Coat also has two yellow and blue American Legion emblem patches sewn onto lapel. Other patches include: on the upper left arm, a yellow and purple Massachusetts Legion patch depicting the seal of the Commonwealth- a shield, Native American, and banner with the Massachusetts motto "Ense petit placidam sub libertate quietem"; and a patch reading "25 YRS" with a yellow star and green leaves on the left sleeve cuff.
