Description2014.2.1-10: Set of ten dinner plates.
This set of ten dinner plates was commissioned by Henry L. Shattuck in 1875 for the centennial commemoration of the fight at Concord’s North Bridge. Each plate depicts the bridge with the inscription “Concord/1775/April 19th/1875”.
Circular plate; the rim has a gold edge then, working towards the middle of the plate, a thick strip of burnt orange, a thin line of gold, a line of gold dots, another thin line of gold, and an arched flowery pattern. The plate is monogrammed at the top in the middle of the rim "RBS". The face of the plate is white with a black transfer print of the North Bridge during the Revolutionary battle; and banners above and below the scene read "Concord/1775 April 19th 1875".
