DescriptionIssue of Harper's Weekly newspaper, vol. III no. 143, Saturday September 24, 1859. Centerfold is a wood engraving by Winslow Homer entitled "The Grand Review at Camp Massachusetts, Near Concord, September 9, 1959". It depicts "The grand detour executed by the militia before Governor Banks, General Wool, and the magistracy and Legistlature of the State" (the Massachusetts militia that mustered on Concord in 1859). The foreground shows Major General Sutton and staff who follow the brass band, the Boston Fusileers.
