Object number2006.54.1
DescriptionLong yellow (gold) trunk with burnt orange trim. Held costume uniforms 2006.54.2-.30 (see also Cos57.7). From label copy ("into your hands..." 2010): Some of the items in this trunk, such as the epaulettes, gloves and khaki cotton jacket, date to Cyrus Cook's service as a Captain in the 1898 Spanish-American War. A Spanish infantry officer's jacket was probably brought back as a souvenir by Cook from Puerto Rico. The officer's dress hat, the Lieutenant Colonel's blue dress jacket, and the olive green service jacket date to the later years of Cook's military career, 1899-1913.
