DescriptionTextile. Silk threads on a linen ground. Sampler worked with silk inscription in a reserve flanked by trees. Above is the verse: "How
pleasant is yon oaks brown shade/ The spreading beach the adjacent glade/ The crystal streams that smoothly slide/ The warbling thrush at even tide" and above that upper and lower case alphabets. Surrounded on three sides by a compound border, typical of Concord samplers, consisting of a double sawtooth border, a large meander with rose sprays, a smaller meander and a single sawtooth border.
