DescriptionSpyglass (telescope) case, cylindrical, 2 pieces (top and bottom). Oil cloth-covered cardboard.
Repaired with a circle of leather at one end, on which is cut a monogram of Thoreau's initials, a conjoined "HDT." The cutting is consistent with the letters on the flute and seems to have been Thoreau's work, as does the neat repair. See Th44, spyglass.
