DescriptionTan leather, lined with purple leather. Leather flap for fastening. In the pocketbook, tied to a piece of cardboard, is a lock of hair, and on the paper in which it is enclosed in pencil: "John Thoreau 1842 Parkman House. (------?)".

The Parkman house was the residence Henry D. Thoreau shared with his mother and father, where the Concord Free Public Library now stands.
