DescriptionSilk and satin squares, five x six squares. Embroidered and cat-stitched. Olive green satin border around edge, outside of this green velvet points lined with silk. Ruffle of lace around outside; the quilt is embroidered to its tan silk backing. All four corners have fans--Owl for wisdom; Kate Greenaway child; good luck symbols including spider & web, shafts of wheat; symbols of love including shafts of pink roses, butterfliles. Small enough to have been a crib quilt and its exquisite workmanship certainly suggests a gift. Extraordinary silks from which it is pieced include long pile cut velvets and strongly figured moires carefully chosen for the effect of color and pattern. Pattern: Crazy.
