Markings"Handsome Gold Brooch, large, with an agate center - an antique brooch from the antique jewelry of Mrs. Eliza Leighton Barrett, wife of Dr. Henry A. Barrett of Concord, Mass. This brooch belonged to the mother of Eliza Leighton Barrett + is of early date 1830 to 1840. Mary Leighton. The Mother of Eliza Leighton Barrett, Mrs. Wm. [William] Leighton, Sr. was born at "the Needham Farm", West Peabody, Mass. Which formed part of an estate given to her ancestor, Anthony Needham, at Salem, Mass. about 1630 by King George III of England."
