DescriptionOctagonal engraved brass sundial. Center circle engraved picture of sun with 4 circular borders. Sun nose at foot of gnomon and mouth below that; rays go out from sun to edge alternating curved and striaght points. Circle that has numerals on it has inscription "Post Tenebras Lux" (translation - "Light after darkness".) Few small dents, or pockmarks, residue on back from material, probably lead, used to imbed sundial in sand. One of the two nuts used to attach gnomon to dial is missing.
