DescriptionApparently made from burl or knot in tree. Entire mortar is roughly carved. Bottom is flat; sides irregular, following form of wood, with general taper toward top. 1/4" groove carved 1/2" below rim on outside. May be stained. Mortar found with small wooden sphere (with stem) that unscrews into two hollow pieces. Unclear what purpose it serves or if it belongs with this mortar.
