DescriptionBreeches (pants). Black glazed wool, wool or homespun cream lining. Buttons attached with buckskin leather anchor straps. 4 cloth covered buttons at each leg opening. 1 button at each hip; 1 at each pocket; 1 at the fly opening. Button flap front. Holes for ties at small of back, 2 holes on each side. Evidence of buckle use at knee flaps. Interesting gather at knee; effort of the tailor to make the stiff fabric fit better over the flexed knee.


This pair plus cotton breeches Per2056b are unusual in that they have a fringe edge on the button strap--a feature that seems unique to this area, but these are the only known examples. See also cotton breeches Per2056b which are unusual; Historic Deerfield has one other pair, but others are unknown.
