DescriptionEvening coat (dolman). Black broadcloth wrap made with finest silk embroidery in colors (cut from a man's coat of Louis XV period) appliqued on the broadcloth; half-length sleeves. Collar, cuffs, and shoulder caps of black velvet; green satin lining.
An interesting feature of this garment is the elaborate Louis XV-style flower embroidery from a man's coat of that period. The House of Worth was famous for their innovative designs and here they carefully appliqued the embroidery to the new coat using the large cuff embroidery from the 18th century to add interest to the back of the coat.
