DateLate 1700s
Object numberC217A
DescriptionCup (tea cup), no handle. Earthenware, soft paste. Six cups and saucers (C212a,b-C217a,b). Foot of cups is thin and neatly potted. Bluish glaze, settled thickly in crevices. Enamelled over the glaze in a sprigged design in natural colors, pink prevailing. Rose and ribbon border on the inside, rose and lattice border on the outside. Design is identical with bowl C211 but the paste and glaze seem to indicate a later date (?).

NOTE 2017: C217a, along with two additional cups and three saucers of the same set, are on display in Room 5, Thomas Dugan case. Numbers of others in set not visible.
