DescriptionPorcelain, feldspathic glaze. Tableware set with four soup plates (C253-C256), one plate (C257), and one bowl (C258). Soup plates are relatively deep, other plate shallow. Bowl is four sided with scallop in rim and fluting at each corner. Borders in underglaze blue, version of Nanking border with diaper pattern and pendant fleur-de-lis like forms. Borders originally outlined in gold. Medallion in center of each plate and on two sides of bowl in over glaze enamels. Black and gold shield with initials "MB" inside in sepia and gold. Blue and gold bow at top of shield. Surrounding this is blue and gold drapery with gold bow at top, and black flecks. On other two sides of bowl and inside bowl are floral sprigs in blue and gold.
