DescriptionOne of a pair of ammunition cartridges. The cartridgres are wrapped in brownish paper, tied and twisted at the ends, and forming a cylindrical shape in the center. The cartridges are accompanied by a note written in pencil on a box lid: "June 16, 1862(? last numeral indistinct) / My Dear Young Friend / May we meet again / at least at the happy home / when joyous forever blooms / [word indistinct] no more - / March 16, 1861 / 18 [word indistinct]" The cartridges are not individually identified.
